Mount Washington (Cascades)
Definitely conquered that beast! According to WTA, the trail was only 8.5 miles with 3,250ft of gain, but my watch clocked it as 10.5 miles. It was definitely a long and relentless climb that actually felt worse coming down than it did going up.
I prefer the lung-busting switchbacks and taking a turtle-pace up a near-vertical trail than trying to ease myself down them; this trail had me running at some sections just to get them over with and hurt less!
The final push to the top was quite a kicker, but once you make it through you make the final switchback to a small open area where you can stop and enjoy your well-deserved lunch. Not the most breathtaking, but definitely worth the hike to claim the accomplishment.
