About g&p

Hi! My name is Carolynn. I am 28 years old and I am learning to live a (mostly) healthy lifestyle. Having lost over 70 pounds (even more if you include the fluctuating weight I've yo-yo'ed over the years), I definitely understand the struggle between wanting two things that contradict each other. On one hand I want to have a transformation story like "Girl Loses 150lbs and Runs a Marathon," but on the other hand, I also really love pizza. And frozen yogurt.

I think that there is a place where both of those desires can coexist, and I want to build a community that embraces a healthy lifestyle without being overly restrictive and cutting out all indulgences. Besides, anyone who says they don't like pizza is a liar. And you don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

Offline, I have a Master of Education in Education Policy, Organization, and Leadership (my area of focus is Global Studies in Education; International Program Administration and Leadership - it’s all a mouthful, I know). I have a B.A. in Linguistics as well as a TESOL certification and I spent a few years teaching in South Korea before starting graduate school. I have yet to really settle into a career field that I’m passionate about. I also have so many interests that it’s just hard to settle, period.

I created this website as more of a blog in an attempt to organize my aforementioned interests, which I’ve categorized into five (broad) categories: fitness, travel, food, health, and hiking. I am also proud to be an ambassador for Girls Who Hike and the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series so I will be sharing a lot of recaps of my hikes and runs.

Thank you for visiting my blog and I hope you found something interesting during your stay! :)
